To shake a salad using Salad Shake, follow these handy steps with some help from Chef Blue.
1. On the main screen, tap on "Make a Salad".
2. The screen that loads next is the ingredients amount screen. Use the plus and minus icons to tell Chef Blue how many ingredients you want in your salad. When you're done, tap on "I'm Ready" at the bottom to let the chef know.
3. Wait about 3 seconds for the chef to get his salad making tools together. Then carefully shake your iOS device. Just a couple of gentle shakes is more than enough to mix up a new salad!
4. You should be presented in a new, unique salad in just a second. From there, you can try again or save your salad.
And that's all there is to it! Enjoy shaking up something cool!
To delete a salad, go to "Your Salads" in the app then swipe left on the salad you wish to delete. This will reveal the delete option, just tap on that and it will permanently remove your salad. Be careful to only delete the salads you're sure you don't want. The chances of re-shaking that same salad again is extremely slim.
Go to Chef's Pantry, then select the category the ingredient is listed in. On the next screen, find the ingredient you wish to exclude in the list and tap on it. On the ingredients detail screen, there is an option at the bottom that will allow you to remove that ingredient from appearing in all future salads.
As much or as little as you want. Salad Shake is there to give you ideas and inspiration about what ingredients you might want in a salad. How much, how little you wish to add is entirely up to you. Ultimately, the recipe is yours to write up and discover. We've even provided some free printable recipe cards for you to write your favorite Salad Shake salads on to keep or share. Click here to grab those free recipe cards.
At the moment, you can save up to 100 salads inside the app. If you wish to save more, you will have to delete older saved salads first. Before you delete an older saved salad, we suggest writing it down on our free recipe cards or sharing it to a social media account such as Facebook or Twitter. This way, you can still keep it--it just won't be within your saved salads list inside the app.
Chef Blue is a trained cat chef who wants to share his love of ingredients with the world. He showed us his credentials before we started developing the Salad Shake app and while we remain somewhat skeptical of his qualifications, we can't argue with his methodology. In all seriousness, we just wanted to make Salad Shake fun to use and have an excuse to create a cute and funny mascot. Whatever else he may be, Chef Blue is certainly as unique as his creations. No other Food & Drink app features a cat chef that serves you up billions of unique salads!
Well, we aren't mathematicians and neither is our cat chef, but we did manage to calculate a number we can throw out there. As of this writing, with 116 ingredients in the Salad Shake app and assuming no ingredients have been disabled, Salad Shake can generate over two-hundred billion salads. Yep. You read that right. But, again, we aren't 100% sure on that. What we are sure about is that we've shaken thousands of salads since the inception of our algorithm and we have yet to see a repeat.
Absolutely! We know we're missing a lot of potential salad ingredients and while our to-do list is pretty long, we're positive that we're missing more than a few. If you want to suggest something that isn't already in the app, head over to our contact form (Or Click Here) and send in an ingredient recommendation. We'll sort through all the suggestions we receive and implement all the good ones, we'll also let you know if your ingredient suggestion will make it into the app. Plus, we'll add you to a Special Thanks section in the app for being so awesome!
We admit, our food categorization isn't the most technically accurate system out there. We placed the ingredients in the categories that we did to make sure we had an even spread of ingredients across categories. We do plan to reorganize ingredients as we add more ingredients and update Salad Shake. So don't worry, the tomatoes will end up in the fruits category eventually!
Yes! Future ingredient additions will be free. We have no plans to charge for ingredient additions beyond the $0.99 you paid for the Salad Shake app.
Our presskit is located right here: Salad Shake Presskit. It's got loads of goodies in it, including wallpapers, printables, logos, screenshots, and more! Thanks so much for looking at it.
